Matthew Durrant is a distinguished composer and educator. His compositions, which span from traditional instrumental works to intricate electronic pieces, are gaining international recognition for their compelling nature. Inspired by the natural landscapes, geography, and history of the American West, Matthew infuses many of his compositions with a sense of place and narrative and seeks to make deep emotional connections with audiences.

Salt Lake Community College - Adjunct Faculty - Audio Recording Technology

His works are published by esteemed publishers such as Cherry Classics, Waterton Brass, TrevCo Music, and ALRY Publications, and are recorded by Navona Records, further cementing his influence in the field of contemporary music.

He holds a PhD in Composition from the University of Utah and continues to make significant contributions to the world of contemporary music and education with his passion for innovative soundscapes and a dedication to his students. Matthew currently lives in Midvale, Utah with his wife and four children. When he is not composing or teaching he can usually be found outdoors camping, hiking, and summiting mountains.
