2022 Artist Residency 
Craters of the Moon National Monument, Idaho

I was selected as the artist in residence at Craters of the Moon National Monument, Idaho for the summer of 2021 but my residency was postponed to the summer of 2022 due to Covid-19. The residency concerts and presentations are scheduled for September 2-4, 2022.

I have composed a brass quintet with five individual movements based on different natural features of the monument. The idea is that the musicians will perform each of the movements at the locations for which they were written as surprise "flash mob" style mini-concerts for the public who happen to be visiting at the time. There will also be an evening campfire concert where the work will be performed as a whole for the audience in a more traditional style concert. If possible, I would like to make video/audio recordings of the performances on-site.

 

It is my hope to directly engage the public imagination at the intersection of nature and music.
